What began with fears of heavy rain and thunderstorms cleared with the passing clouds and the most successful "PawsFest" ever was held Saturday on the square.

"I think everybody had a blast," CHARM Board Member Jo Geisler said Monday morning. "The weather panned out fine. We set a record for fundraising. And the vendors had a good day."

Mrs. Geisler said there were a lot of dogs on the square and no incidents between canines were  reported.
CHARM, or City of Headland Animal Rescue Mission, cares for homeless animals at the city's animal shelter, providing a "secure, comfortable, consistent environment and providing balance in their lives through exercise, nutrition, medical care and socialization" while attempting to "find them forever homes."

While "PawsFest" is the group's biggest annual fundraiser, it doesn't take care of all the annual needs of the group. For more information or to make a donation, call 334-693-9097, or go to the CHARM website, charmheadland.org. While there, you can look at more pictures from Saturday's event.
